Chronic Pain Management Program (Virtual) | Currumbin Clinic

Living with chronic pain can affect every aspect of life — physical health, mental wellbeing, relationships, and daily functioning. For some individuals, pain may also become closely linked with medication use or addiction.

At Currumbin Clinic, a leading addictions specialist centre on the Gold Coast, we recognise that effective pain management requires more than medication. That’s why we’ve developed a new virtual Pain Management Program, delivered via the Aurora Cloud Clinic, to provide accessible, evidence-based care wherever you are.

Virtual Pain Management Program (Delivered via Aurora Cloud Clinic)

Our 8-week online pain management program runs Tuesdays from 11:00am to 2:30pm and is delivered in a semi-closed group setting, allowing participants to build consistency, trust and connection across the program.

While hosted and led by the expert team at Currumbin Clinic, this program is delivered through the Aurora Cloud Clinic — Aurora Healthcare’s dedicated virtual care platform — making specialist support accessible across the Gold Coast and beyond.

Facilitated by a Psychologist and Exercise Physiologist, the program offers a multidisciplinary and evidence-based approach to managing chronic pain.

Evidence-Based Chronic Pain Treatment

This program is grounded in:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for pain
  • Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE)

Participants will learn how to:

  • Manage chronic pain and flare-ups effectively
  • Understand how the brain and body process pain
  • Improve daily function and quality of life
  • Reduce reliance on medication where appropriate

By focusing on long-term pain management strategies, the program supports individuals to move beyond short-term symptom relief and build lasting resilience.

Specialist Support for Pain and Addiction

As an addiction treatment provider, Currumbin Clinic offers a unique, integrated approach to chronic pain management.

We support individuals to better understand:

  • The relationship between chronic pain and substance use
  • Risks associated with pain medication dependence
  • Alternative coping strategies beyond medication
  • Relapse prevention in the context of pain

This ensures both pain and addiction are treated together, supporting safer and more sustainable recovery outcomes.

Supporting Real-Life Change with Digital Tools

As part of the program, participants will also receive access to Pain Coach, a digital health platform designed to complement clinical care and bring pain management strategies into everyday life. Guided by their treating clinicians, participants can track how key lifestyle factors — including sleep, stress, physical activity, nutrition and social connection — influence their pain experience. By identifying patterns and trends over time, many individuals gain valuable insight into what drives flare-ups and what supports improvement. This real-time feedback helps transform pain from something that feels unpredictable into something that can be better understood, managed and influenced — reinforcing the practical skills developed throughout the program.

Who Is This Chronic Pain Program For?

This program is suitable for individuals who:

  • Experience chronic or persistent pain conditions
  • Have co-occurring mental health concerns (e.g. anxiety or depression)
  • Are concerned about medication reliance or addiction
  • Are seeking non-medication pain management strategies

Flexible Virtual Care – Ideal for Busy or Remote Lifestyles

Delivered securely via the Aurora Cloud Clinic, this online pain management program is designed to be flexible and accessible.

It is ideal for individuals who are:

  • Living in regional or remote areas
  • Managing busy work or family commitments
  • Unable to attend in-person programs

Participants can access expert-led care from Currumbin Clinic, along with structured group support, from the comfort of their own home — removing barriers like travel and making it easier to stay engaged throughout the program.
