Located near Currumbin Beach on the southern Gold Coast, close to the NSW border, the clinic offers a calm coastal environment for recovery: private or shared rooms, an on-site gym, courtyards and walking access around the grounds (with psychiatrist approval). The facility is accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards, and family involvement is welcomed as part of the recovery journey.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral for rehab at Currumbin Clinic?
Yes, admission to our Gold Coast rehab and addiction treatment programs requires a referral from a GP or psychiatrist. Any GP can provide a referral, so if you do not have one yet, submit an enquiry through our mental health enquiry form.
Is the detox medically supervised?
Yes. Withdrawal management (detox) at Currumbin Clinic takes place within a private hospital under 24-hour clinical care. What sets our program apart is our medical team: Currumbin Clinic is the only private hospital detox on the Gold Coast with an internal medicine specialist (physician) with subspecialty training in Addiction Medicine on the team, working alongside our psychiatrists, mental health nurses and allied health staff on site. This physician-led approach means the physical complications of withdrawal, from alcohol, prescription medication or other substances, are managed with specialist medical expertise, not just monitored.
Does private health insurance cover rehab?
Many private health funds cover inpatient psychiatric and addiction treatment, depending on your level of cover. Currumbin Clinic holds contracts with all Australian private health insurers, and our team provides informed financial consent before admission, so you will know exactly what your fund covers and any out-of-pocket costs upfront.
Currumbin Clinic is also a Tier 1 provider for the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
How long is the rehab program?
Length of stay is individual. It depends on your clinical needs and is planned with your treating psychiatrist as part of your personalised treatment plan.
After discharge, our day programs can extend your support as part of a relapse prevention plan, helping you maintain recovery while returning to daily life on the Gold Coast.
Can my family be involved?
Yes, we actively encourage family involvement in recovery. Currumbin Clinic runs a free Carer and Family Support Group on the first Thursday of every month, 3:30pm to 4:30pm, where family members and support people can meet with a mental health worker for education and support on stress management and self-care.
