Currumbin Clinic is a private mental health hospital offering drug and alcohol rehab on the southern Gold Coast. From medically supervised detox through to inpatient treatment, day programs and outpatient follow-up, our team provides discreet, evidence-based addiction treatment in a peaceful coastal setting near Currumbin Beach — minutes from Tweed Heads and northern NSW.
Whether you are seeking help for yourself, a loved one, or referring a patient, care begins with a confidential assessment and a treatment plan built around the individual.
Addiction is rarely just about substances or behaviours — it is often linked to deeper emotional, psychological or trauma-related issues. Our programs treat the whole person, not just the addiction, across three levels of care:
Inpatient rehab — structured, intensive support in hospital, including medically supervised detoxification (withdrawal management)
Day programs — flexible therapeutic treatment while living at home, or as a step-down after an inpatient stay
Outpatient services — psychiatric consultations and follow-up care
Treatment is delivered by a multidisciplinary team and may include psychiatric and psychological support, group therapy and relapse prevention, mindfulness and self-development programs, exercise physiology, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for co-occurring mental health conditions.
Our Gold Coast addiction services cover:
Alcohol addiction and dependence
Drug and substance dependence
Prescription medication misuse
Nicotine addiction
Gambling disorder
Gaming and other behavioural addictions
Where clinically appropriate, treatment can include anti-craving and harm-minimisation therapies, nicotine replacement therapy, and non-addictive medications for behavioural addictions. Our focus is long-term recovery — building healthier coping strategies and lifestyles — not substitution.
Many people living with addiction also experience anxiety, depression or trauma. As a private psychiatric hospital, Currumbin Clinic provides integrated dual diagnosis treatment on the Gold Coast, addressing alcohol and drug dependence alongside co-occurring mental health and trauma-related conditions.
Treating both together supports more sustainable recovery.

Yes, admission to our Gold Coast rehab and addiction treatment programs requires a referral from a GP or psychiatrist. Any GP can provide a referral, so if you do not have one yet, submit an enquiry through our mental health enquiry form.
Yes. Withdrawal management (detox) at Currumbin Clinic takes place within a private hospital under 24-hour clinical care. What sets our program apart is our medical team: Currumbin Clinic is the only private hospital detox on the Gold Coast with an internal medicine specialist (physician) with subspecialty training in Addiction Medicine on the team, working alongside our psychiatrists, mental health nurses and allied health staff on site. This physician-led approach means the physical complications of withdrawal, from alcohol, prescription medication or other substances, are managed with specialist medical expertise, not just monitored.
Many private health funds cover inpatient psychiatric and addiction treatment, depending on your level of cover. Currumbin Clinic holds contracts with all Australian private health insurers, and our team provides informed financial consent before admission, so you will know exactly what your fund covers and any out-of-pocket costs upfront.
Currumbin Clinic is also a Tier 1 provider for the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
Length of stay is individual. It depends on your clinical needs and is planned with your treating psychiatrist as part of your personalised treatment plan.
After discharge, our day programs can extend your support as part of a relapse prevention plan, helping you maintain recovery while returning to daily life on the Gold Coast.
Yes, we actively encourage family involvement in recovery. Currumbin Clinic runs a free Carer and Family Support Group on the first Thursday of every month, 3:30pm to 4:30pm, where family members and support people can meet with a mental health worker for education and support on stress management and self-care. The group is open to caregivers of all mental health conditions and RSVP is essential. To register, call 07 5525 9689 or email pbc.daypatients@aurorahealth.com.au.
