Patients can also enquire directly, however a referral from a treating medical practitioner is generally required before admission.

Do I Need to Refer to a Specific Psychiatrist?
No.
If your patient has an existing treating psychiatrist, you are welcome to nominate them as part of the referral.
If a patient does not currently have a psychiatrist, our Admissions and Assessment Team can assist in identifying an appropriate psychiatrist based on the patient's needs and availability.
This helps streamline the referral process and improve access to care.

How to Refer a Patient
Step 1 – Submit a Referral
Send a referral outlining:
- Presenting concerns
- Current diagnosis (if applicable)

Step 2 – Patient Assessment
Our Admissions and Assessment Team will contact the patient to complete an assessment and discuss treatment options.
Where appropriate, referrals may be reviewed in consultation with a psychiatrist who has admitting rights at the hospital.
Step 3 – Funding and Eligibility Review
Our team will review:
- Private health insurance eligibility
- DVA eligibility
- WorkCover arrangements
- Other approved funding pathways
Patients will be advised of any expected out-of-pocket costs before admission.
Step 4 – Admission Planning
Once accepted, our team coordinates:
- Admission date
