Celebrating Connection

A Message from our CEO Benjamin Uprichard:

At Currumbin Clinic, Queensland Mental Health Week is a cherished moment in our calendar—a time when we pause, reflect, and come together to celebrate the importance of mental well-being. This year’s theme, “Connect for mental health,” resonates deeply with our values, and we’re proud to bring it to life through a week of vibrant, inclusive, and uplifting activities.

From sunrise to sunset, the clinic will be buzzing with energy and warmth. Whether it's the aroma of fresh coffee and sizzling breakfast rolls, the laughter shared over international dishes, or the quiet joy of creating art by the beach, every moment is designed to foster connection. Music drifts through the air, sweet treats are shared, and creative expression flows freely—reminding us that healing often begins with simple acts of togetherness.

These activities aren’t just events on a timetable—they’re expressions of care, community, and the belief that mental health deserves celebration. Staff and patients alike are invited to step into spaces where they can feel supported, inspired, and part of something larger than themselves. From the gentle rhythm of live music to the comfort of a movie night under the stars, each experience is a chance to connect—with others, with creativity, and with the deeper parts of ourselves.

Mental Health Week at Currumbin Clinic is more than a tradition—it’s a reflection of who we are. It’s our way of saying that mental health matters, and that connection is at the heart of every step toward wellness. We look forward to sharing this special week with our community, and to continuing the conversation long after the final choc top is enjoyed.

Mental Health Week Activities

From Tuesday 7 October to Friday 10 October 2025, we’re embracing this year’s theme, “Connect for mental health,” with a joyful lineup of activities designed to bring people together, spark creativity, and nourish both body and soul.

Tuesday: Art, Beach, and Breakfast Rolls

We kick off the week with a delicious morning offering of bacon, egg, and vegetarian rolls at the hospital front—because connection starts with sharing a meal. Throughout the day, patients and staff can immerse themselves in art activities across the dining room and even at Currumbin Beach. It’s a gentle, creative start to a week of meaningful engagement.

Wednesday: Global Flavours and Live Music

Wednesday brings a cultural feast with international food stations from 12–1pm, followed by the soulful sounds of Josh Lovegrove live from 1–2pm. A gelato truck adds a sweet touch to the day, and art activities continue to offer a space for expression and reflection. Whether you're dancing, tasting, or painting, it’s all about connecting through shared experiences.

Thursday: Coffee, Cake, and Community

Thursday morning begins with the comforting aroma of fresh coffee from our coffee van, open to staff and patients alike. A cake stall and ongoing art activities round out the day, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that encourages conversation and camaraderie.

Friday: Creativity and Cinema Under the Stars

We close the week with a final art session from 3–5pm, followed by a cozy movie night complete with hot dogs, popcorn, and choc tops from 5:30–6:30pm. It’s a chance to unwind, laugh, and reflect on the connections we’ve made throughout the week.
