Professional background

Dr Helen Donaghy is a General Adult Psychiatrist. Much of her experience is in adult psychiatry, however she is interested in both women’s health throughout the life span and has particularly enjoyed working with older adults. Originally from the Northern Rivers area, she both grew up and went to school in the local area. Having obtained her medical degree at the University of Queensland, Helen worked in North QLD and the Northern Rivers. She then embarked on her psychiatry training, initially starting in Sydney and then returned home where she completed most of her training in the Tweed/Byron MHS as a part time trainee. She obtained her Fellowship in early 2019. Her most recent role has been in the public setting working in Tweed as the Community Psychiatrist. Helen is passionate about good patient care, that is evidence based and strives for the best possible outcomes for her patients and their families. In her spare time Helen balances work with motherhood, and enjoys yoga, boxing, making silver jewellery, reading and walking her Pomeranian puppies.
