Outpatient Therapy
Our day, evening and follow up programs are available after hospital admission, and for those who have not had an inpatient stay at Currumbin Clinic before. Assessment with one of our treating Psychiatrists is required before starting a program.
These programs are designed to work on the skills you need to recover and stay well, and include:
Addictive Disorders
The Addictions program is for people diagnosed with substance relative and addictive disorders and want to learn and expand their knowledge and skills towards abstinence based recovery in a supportive atmosphere. This program may be useful in addressing individual clinical needs.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
This program may be useful in addressing individual clinical needs of people recovering from a mental illness such as anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder.
Brain Gym (Healthy Minds)
This program designed for people who may be experiencing adjustment difficulties, depression, anxiety from early signs of memory loss and/or cognitive changes. This program focuses on issues related to managing cognitive, including brain training exercises, creating a healthy balanced lifestyle through mental and physical activities, healthy eating and social activities.
Building Strength and Resilience
This program is for people recovering from a mental health problem like depression, anxiety, addiction and adjustment issues and would like to build on their day-to-day coping skills. This program may be useful in helping to ‘bounce back’ and meet daily demands
CBT for Transdiagnostic Anxiety Disorders
This program may be useful for people who wish to gain skills to manage their anxiety more effectively in a supportive environment.
CBT for Veterans and Emergency Services
This program is designed for all current serving military, veterans and current or ex-servicing emergency services personnel who wish to gain the skills to manage depression and/or anxiety more effectively in a supportive environment.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
People diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder or who self harm, have intense and unstable mood states and unstable relationships, this program may be useful in addressing individual clinical needs. DBT also requires a strong commitment to therapy.
Family and Carers
The Family and Carers program is available to Family members, friends and carers of current inpatients at Currumbin Clinic who wish to receive education of various mental health diagnoses, signs and symptoms, identifying early warning signs, as well as guidance around providing support.
Gambling
This program is designed for people diagnosed with problem gambling or a gambling disorder and want to learn and expand their knowledge and skills towards abstinence based recovery in a supportive atmosphere.
Project Art
This program is for people diagnosed with mood disorders, anxiety disorders and addictive disorders and who find creative activities beneficial, or have an interest in finding new ways to express oneself and explore problems creatively are encouraged to attend this program. It is not necessary to have any art skills to participate.
R.E.A.C.H CBT for Mood Disorders
This Black Dog Institute developed program is designed for people diagnosed with depression or bipolar disorder and would like to manage it more effectively through the application of proven Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques.
Veterans and Emergency Services
This program is designed for all currently serving military and veteran personnel, and current or ex-serving emergency services personnel. It addresses problems that arise from serving in high stress occupations, such as stress and arousal management, anger management, and improved communication and relationship skills. It also provides a safe, confidential and supportive environment to complement individual treatment pathways.
Women's Group
This program is designed specifically for women who are diagnosed with mood disorders, anxiety disorders and addictive disorders, and would benefit from support and contact with other women in order to improve their mental health wellbeing
