Currumbin Clinic welcomes new Consultant Psychiatrist; Dr Helen Donaghy

We are proud to announce the appointment of our newest Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Helen Donaghy who will be available for outpatient appointments at our Healthe Mind Bangalow Clinic.

Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Helen Donaghy FRANZCP, MBBS is a General Adult Psychiatrist. Her areas of interest include working with people suffering from mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, perinatal disorders, and complex PTSD.

Much of her experience is in adult psychiatry, however she is interested in both women’s health throughout the life span and has particularly enjoyed working with older adults. Dr Donaghy has an interest in psychotherapy, and Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

Originally from the Northern Rivers area, and she both grew up and went to school in the local area. Having obtained her medical degree at the University of Queensland, Helen worked in North QLD and the Northern Rivers. She then embarked on her psychiatry training, initially starting in Sydney, then later returned home where she completed most training in the Tweed/Byron MHS as a part time trainee.

Having obtained her Fellowship in February 2019, she has worked both locally and interstate. In mid 2019 she took up a position at Monash Health as a newly qualified psychiatrist and worked for a 6 months period in the community setting, gaining experience working in a metropolitan setting.

Her most recent roles have included locum work at the Tweed Heads Hospital throughout 2020/21. In her spare time Helen balances work with motherhood, and enjoys yoga, fitness, reading, and walking her Pomeranian puppy.

She is committed to providing holistic, non-judgemental care and seeks to empower the person to make informed decisions around their care.

Dr Donaghy is available for outpatient consultations from the Healthe Mind Rooms in Bangalow.
