Dr Chris Danesi MBBS, FRANZCP is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Director of the PTSD Program at Currumbin Clinic.

Dr Danesi completed his medical degree at the University of NSW in 1978, and his intern and residency years at the Royal Newcastle and associated hospitals in the Hunter Valley before commencing private general practice. His desire to understand psychological issues led to commencing psychiatric training at the Cumberland Hospital, Sydney. In 1988 soon after obtaining his psychiatric qualifications, he moved to the beautiful Tweed Valley, NSW and commenced private practice in Murwillumbah and the lower Gold Coast. In 1989 he provided consultation services to a number of local hospitals including the then medical-surgical hospital, Currumbin Palm Beach Hospital. Due to the need for specialised services for veterans, in 1998 he helped develop a PTSD program at Currumbin Clinic.

Dr Danesi was the inaugural director for PTSD treatment at Currumbin Clinic and continues in this role today. These services have expanded to include Emergency Service workers. Such services have provided care to over 1000 patients. In 2000, Dr Danesi was in the first of the cohorts to successfully complete the five-year Maintenance of Professional Standards accreditation by the College of Psychiatrists. This group continues and he commenced another such group in Currumbin Clinic in 2014. In 2008, he commenced providing psychiatric services in Roma and soon after, Charleville.

He ceased providing remote rural services in 2021. In 2011, Dr Danesi was recognised by Check UP, the provider of outreach services to rural and remote Queensland for the most medical education provided to rural practitioners over the previous ten years.
